PB Week: Brit gooner dines out

The past week has been all about numbers, mainly how many calories consumed and how many units of alcohol (21 of course, as always!), writes guest blogger Simon Cooter.

Last week we hosted a range of regional broker dinners in Manchester and Cardiff, providing us with the opportunity to hear first hand what our trading partners think of the market and of course, of Brit itself. And this week, for the first time, we are hosting a broker dinner in one of our regional offices, Leeds, where we will be entertaining (and being entertained by) the great and the good of the Yorkshire broker market.

On the sporting front, the Twenty 20 Cup got off to a start, and I was lucky enough to see Middlesex play Surrey at Lords, a great arena only let down by the fact that unlike the other test arena's there is a distinct lack of Brit hoardings.

The real International action arrives at the Brit Insurance Oval next week when England host New Zealand in the ODI.

And on the football front it is difficult to decide what has been most entertaining; Holland's fantastic start in Euro 2008 or the Ronaldo/Real Madrid saga. As a Gooner I know which gets my vote.

And the main lesson learned in the week? A couple of decent business wins acted as a reminder that you can't spend too much time in front of brokers. Real visibility in the market is a definite differentiator, bizarre as that might sound.
